Meeting of the President of the Republic of Poland with the Prime Minister of Ukraine

On 16th February 2006 a meeting took place of the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Yekhanurov. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland Piotr Woźniak, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Chief of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Urbański, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Bohdan Butsa, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Barbara Tuge-Erecińska, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Khandogiy and Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Krawczyk.
 
During the meeting relations were discussed between Poland and Ukraine as well as energy security. The President of the Republic of Poland emphasised that Poland intends to continue the ongoing co-operation with Ukraine, which co-operation has taken the form of a strategic partnership. The President of the Republic of Poland expressed determined support for the membership of Ukraine in NATO. Moreover he noted that Poland aims at EU policy towards its Eastern neighbours, the Ukraine included, being treated as one of the priorities of EU involvement outside its boundaries. Prime Minister Yekhanurov informed about the situation in Ukraine in the context of the approaching parliamentary elections.
