The opening of a Historical Studies Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin

Minister Lena Dąbkowska-Cichocka was the representative of the President of the Republic of Poland at the opening of a Historical Studies Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin. On 23 November 2006, a Historical Studies Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences opened at Berlin’s Freie Universität. The guests of honour at the opening ceremony were Prof. Władysław Bartoszewski, former German President Dr Richard von Weizsäcker and Georg Boomgaarden, Secretary of State at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The President of the Republic of Poland was represented by Undersecretary of State at the Presidential Chancellery Lena Dąbkowska-Cichocka. On behalf of the President, she read out a letter addressed to the Centre’s Director, Prof. Robert Traba. She also handed President Richard von Weizsäcker a personal invitation from President Lech Kaczyński to visit Poland early next year. Richard von Wiezsäcker offered his warm thanks and gave his regards to President Kaczyński, confirming his willingness to come to Poland at the President’s invitation.
