For Development of Polish-Ukrainian Co-operation

On July 28, 2006, the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński appointed a Polish-Ukrainian Presidential Committee. Secretary of State and Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland Elżbieta Jakubiak was appointed Chair of the Committee, and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Kowal was appointed the Deputy Chair.

Other Committee members are: Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Administration Władysław Stasiak, Under-Secretary at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Krawczyk, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Administration Paweł Soloch and the Ambassador Bogusław Winid.

As agreed between the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine, a twin Presidential Committee will also be appointed on the Ukrainian side. Like in Poland, it will be composed of experts in Polish-Ukrainian matters and representatives of a number of ministries. The appointment of the Presidential Polish-Ukrainian Committee by the President of the Republic of Poland demonstrates how crucial the development of Polish-Ukrainian political and economic relations is for President Lech Kaczyński.
