Meeting of President Lech Kaczyński with the Head of the Orthodox Church of Greece

On 18th May 2007 President Lech Kaczyński met with the Head of the Orthodox Church of Greece Christodoulos. The Archbishop of Athens and All of Greece was accompanied i.a. by: the Orthodox Metropolitan of Warsaw and All of Poland Sawa, the Metropolitan of Stagon and Meteora Serapheim, the Archbishop of Lublin and Chełm Abel, the Bishop of Siematycze Jerzy and the Ambassador of Greece in Poland Pantelis Carcabassis.

The Polish delegation was represented i.a. by: Chief of Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland Elżbieta Jakubiak, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Maciej Łopiński and the Chaplain of the President of the Republic of Poland Prelate Roman Indrzejczyk.

During the meeting the matter was discussed of relations between the Republic of Poland and the Orthodox Church in Poland and in Greece. The interlocutors underscored the very good status of mutual relations. During the discussion European matters were mentioned. President Lech Kaczyński and the Archbishop of Athens and of All of Greece Christodoulos related themselves to the need of including in the text of the future European Treaty a reference to Christian values.
