Lech Kaczyński in Chicago

On 25 September 2007, the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, arrived in Chicago. The President shall lay a wreath at the Katyn Memorial at the St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.

Back in Chicago, the President had a meeting with the City Mayor, Richard Daley, who was decorated with the Order of Polonia Restituta Commander’s Cross

In the afternoon, a meeting was held with the Illinois State Governor, Rod Blagojevich. During the meeting a memorandum was signed to regulate the issue of collaboration between Poland and the State of Illinois.

In the evening, the President opened a concert Poland for Chicago, and met the event organisers as well as the local Polonia. After the meeting the President returned to New York to attend the 62nd Session of the UN General Assembly.
