Minister Andrzej Duda met with a group of Senators from the Parliament of the Czech Republic

On 15 October 2008, Undersecretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, acting on behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland, received a delegation of Senators from the Parliament of the Czech Republic, representing the Committee on the European Union and the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee. The delegation was headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Jiři Šneberger.

In the course of the meeting, the ratification process of the Lisbon Treaty in the European Union member states was discussed. The Senators presented the state of the Lisbon Treaty ratification procedure in the Czech Republic and the role of the Senate in the process. The members of the Czech delegation also discussed the main assumptions and arguments in the debate on the Treaty that has been going on in the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The current situation concerning the crisis in the financial markets was also addressed during the talks. Another subject discussed in the course of the meeting was the security situation in the context of Poland’s and the Czech Republic’s accession to the US missile defence system. Both sides expressed their satisfaction over the very good state of Polish-Czech relations and intensive political dialogue between our two countries, including in particular at the highest level, i.e. between the Presidents of the Republic of Poland and the Czech Republic.
