Staff and Distinctions Office
The Office performs tasks related to the constitutional and statutory rights of the President to appoint (dismiss) persons holding executive public offices and President’s representatives in other state bodies, grant the title of professor, appoint judges, appoint and dismiss authorised representatives of the Republic of Poland in other countries and international organisations, appoint the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces as well as commanders of the Armed Forces, promote to the first officer rank and general officer ranks, propose appointment of the President of the National Bank of Poland.
Moreover, the Office deals with tasks connected with awarding and depriving of orders and distinctions as well as supporting Chapters of Orders and Teams appointed by decision of the Head of the Chancellery to give opinions on applications for granting orders and awards, granting consent for Polish citizens to accept orders and awards and other honorary mentions granted by high-ranking authorities of third countries as well as granting consents regarding the style and manner of wearing honorary awards.
The Office also deals with staff management of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland as well as health and safety at work issues and those relating to the compliance with the Rules of the Social Security Fund.
