President Duda talked with President Trump at NATO summit

Increasing the presence of American troops in Poland was the topic of the second meeting between the Polish and US Presidents, Andrzej Duda and Donald Trump, on Wednesday, the head of the Polish president's office, Krzysztof Szczerski, has said.

The conversation took place at the request of the Polish side, during the working dinner of the NATO countries' leaders who came to the alliance's summit in Brussels, Krzysztof Szczerski added.

"The presidents talked about increasing the presence of US troops in Poland, both in terms of its form and numbers," presidential aide said, adding that "the Polish-American talks will be continued in the near future."

The Polish and US Presidents talked earlier on Wednesday on the sidelines of the NATO summit. Szczerski said at the time that President Trump had invited President Duda to his room at the alliance's headquarters. The two Presidents held talks "mainly about military cooperation, including the strengthening of Polish-American military cooperation in the field of equipment and cooperation of military units," the presidential aide commented. "The Presidents also discussed the calendar of political contacts at the highest level," he added. The presidential meeting was also attended by Trump's national security advisor, John Bolton, and by Krzysztof Szczerski.

Krzysztof Szczerski also said that earlier he and Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak had talked with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis.
