Polish President meets the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic

The President of Poland met with Petr Nečas, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic

Bronisław Komorowski, the President of Poland, met with Petr Nečas, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, who was paying an official visit to Poland at the invitation of the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk.

 

During the meeting, they discussed issues such as NATO's New Strategic Concept in light of the upcoming summit of the organisation in Lisbon. Komorowski and Nečas both emphasized the crucial significance of Article 5 of the Washington Treaty and the terms concerning its implementation.

In light of the agenda of the EU, they discussed the budgetary perspective of the European Union. They both said that it is crucial to maintain a cohesion policy.

 

Bilateral relations and perspectives concerning regional cooperation within the Visegrad Group were also discussed and both agreed that military and energy-related cooperation, including the construction of a gas link between Poland and the Czech Republic, are top priorities.
