The forthcoming NATO summit, amendments to EU security strategy, and national security reviews were discussed by secretaries of the Polish, French and German security councils at their meeting in Warsaw Thursday.

The first point of the agenda, i.e. the NATO summit, was discussed in the presence of president Bronisław Komorowski.

The topics covered in this context included Afghanistan, collective defense, NATO-Russia relations, and smart defence, among other. "We have inaugurated a new cooperation formula in the Weimar Triangle, i.e. consultations and meetings of security council secretaries," said head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) Stanisław Koziej.

All three countries agree that the present EU security strategy is outdated, but their approaches to it differ, Stanisław Koziej admitted. "We will exchange information in the autumn," he added, referring to opinions solicited from national think tanks in the three countries.

The French side presented results of its review of national security matters in France. "We can say that all the factors analysed in France are also analysed by us in Poland. They include the Arab spring of nations, international financial crisis, new US strategy, new threats in cyberspace and in energy," Koziej said.

The Polish national security review will be completed by the summer and Stanisław Koziej is to present conclusions at the next meeting of three secretaries scheduled for Paris. (PAP)
