President Bronisław Komorowski said on Monday after meeting his Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano that they found a joint point of view on the process of Ukraine's integration with the western world.

The president said he was satisfied with the Italian president visit to Poland. Bronisław Komorowski said it was for him the proof that Polish-Italian cooperation developed and strengthened. He recalled recent Polish-Italian inter-governmental consultations.

"I am glad that via contacts between the presidents we strengthen all mechanisms conducive to common viewpoints on key topics inside the European Union and outside it," Komorowski explained.

He added that his talk with Napolitano centred on a number of issues relating to bilateral relations and European policy including the situation in Ukraine.

"No so much, as the president put it, in the context of football games but in the context of a big game for Ukrainian chances for participating in the process of European integration, in the process of Ukraine integration with the western world." "I am glad that also in this area we found a common viewpoint," he added.

Giorgio Napolitano stressed that Italy appreciated far-sighted and sustainable vision of Poland and Poland's president on Ukraine's rapprochement to European institutions. He added that Italy shared Poland's view on the matter.

The Italian president expressed the hope that Bronislaw Komorowski would soon visit his country.

The Polish president also said he hoped for the Polish-Italian Economic Forum, to be inaugurated by the two presidents in Warsaw on Tuesday, to become a good opportunity for a discussion on the meaning of economic relations between the two countries in uneasy situation of economic crisis.

In the evening the Polish presidential couple gave a gala dinner in honour of their guests.

On Tuesday morning the two presidents will inaugurate the Polish-Italian Economic Forum in Warsaw's Hyatt Hotel. Also on Tuesday President Napolitano will receive Poland's Sejm Speaker Ewa Kopacz and Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz.
