I believe the EU will come out of the present crisis stronger and more open to its neighbours, President Bronisław Komorowski said Monday in the Moldovan capital Chisinau.

Bronisław Komorowski, who today received an honorary doctorate from the Moldovan Academy of Sciences, said Poland supported Moldova's ambitions to move closer to the west and the EU.

"We frequently hear that the west, especially Europe, are in crisis. However, with its over 500 million citizens, the EU remains and will remain the world's biggest economy (...), a community of stability, peace and sustained growth. I strongly believe that the EU will come out of the present crisis stronger (...) and more open to (...) its neighbours in the east", President Komorowski said.
