President Bronisław Komorowski appointed Jacek Bartkiewicz and Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska to the central bank (NBP) management board on Wednesday.

Jacek Bartkiewicz on March 31, 2013 resigned from the post of head of the state-run special purpose BGZ bank. From 2004 to 2006 he was president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange; earlier from 2001 to 2002 was undersecretary at the Finance Ministry and deputy head of the Banking Supervision Commission.

Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska from January 2007 to February 2009 was deputy finance minister responsible for financial policy, analysis and statistics, public debt and financial market development departments. Later she was Poland's representative at the International Monetary Fund (replaced by Dominik Radziwill in August 2012).

Under the law on the National Bank of Poland (the central bank) the NBP board is made up of NBP president who is its chairperson and from six to eight board members, including two vice-presidents. NBP board members are appointed and dismissed by Poland's president at the motion of a finance minister. Their term of office lasts six years. (PAP)
