Poland's presidential couple attended the inauguration of the 5th Congress of Women in Warsaw on Friday. First Lady Anna Komorowska said she felt authorised to invite her husband to the congress by one of its slogans, namely partnership.

This year's congress is held under the slogan "Partnership, Solidarity and Diversity."

Anna Komorowska stressed that although the congress would discuss partnership in various contexts it is worth a while to consider the role of partnership in family life.

Also President Bronislaw Komorowski underlined that discussion on partnership is a good opportunity to present a view on what enhances it. Komorowski recalled that a Good Climate for Family programme had been drafted in his Chancellery and at present, with joint effort, it could be supplemented with a Good Climate for a Woman programme.

Anna Komorowska added that the organisation of the 5th edition of the congress is a huge success as it contributes to a change of mentality in Poland and this always causes a number of problems.

On Friday the congress, attended by over 8,000 participants appealed for more female political commentators in mass media.

The Congress of Women will end on Saturday. Planned is a series of panel discussions on men, the situation of women in uniformed services, how to reconcile professional career with being a wife and a mother, the situation of women on the labour market, tending to people dependent on women and other topics important for the female population.
