President Bronislaw Komorowski received Germany's new Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday. The two discussed the situation in Ukraine and Polish-German relations.

The discussion focused on the "assessment of the situation in Ukraine and the prospects of EU-Ukraine relations after the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius where Ukraine refrained from signing an association deal with the EU," Presidential Minister Jaromir Sokolowski told PAP.

As they discussed Polish-German relations, Komorowski and Steinmeier concluded that they "have never before been so positive," the presidential minister reported.

During his nomination ceremony on Tuesday, Steinmeier declared that he would like to go to Warsaw to discuss ways to break the political barrier in Kiev.
