Hard coal is a prospective area of cooperation for Poland and Denmark, according to Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski who opened the "Denmark & Poland - Cooperation and Innovation" exhibition in Warsaw on Monday.

The president took part in the exhibition's official opening together with Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary whose three-day visit to Poland began in Warsaw on Monday.

Danish companies have been operating in Poland for years, President Komorowski said, and "we can speak of Danish specialities: the energy sector, especially renewable energy, environmental protection, medical services and the agri-food industry as well as industrial design."

"Hard coal is important to both the Polish and the Danish energy mix," the president pointed out. "This is also an important prospective area for our cooperation," he added.

"Poland's importance to Denmark and Denmark's to Poland as import and export partners is growing consistently," Komorowski also said. He mentioned Solaris buses as an example of Polish companies' presence in Denmark. "I am also happy that Polish agricultural products have a growing presence in Denmark," he added.

"It is important not only for trade exchange between our countries to grow, but also economic cooperation that could move up to a more advanced level. We want our cooperation to be a driving force for economic growth thanks to the development of innovation," President Komorowski remarked.

Prince Frederik pointed out that representatives of leading Danish companies had come with him to Poland. He added that all of the Danish specialities, including energy, the environment, agriculture and defence, were potentially huge opportunities for cooperation with Poland. (PAP)
