The Ukraine crisis and the September NATO summit in Wales dominated Friday talks between the Czech, Slovak and Polish presidents in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.

The meeting marks the 70th anniversary of Slovakia's national uprising.

Commenting the talks to reporters, Bronislaw Komorowski said all three state heads agreed that Russia's military entry into Ukraine put eastern European security "in a completely new situation".

Bronislaw Komorowski added that he also acquainted Czech and Slovak presidents Milos Zeman and Andrej Kiska with Poland's position on the NATO summit, especially the need for raised NATO presence in the Alliance's easternmost members in response to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict.

The Slovak national uprising took place from August 29 to October 28 1944. The insurgents' main location was Banska Bystrica, which they took control of on August 30. (PAP)
