Poles are among the victims of Wednesday's terrorist assault in Tunis, the Polish Foreign Ministry has reported. The ministry was unable to state the number of the fatalities and said it would do so after they have been identified.

President Bronislaw Komorowski condemned the assault and assured that Poland will remain internationally active in the fight against terrorism.

"We are all shocked and extremely concerned that our countrymen have become the target of such a brutal and cowardly terrorist attack", Bronislaw Komorowski said after a meeting with PM Ewa Kopacz.

The president added that the Tunis assault was the first terrorist attack to directly affect Poles. He also informed that he had spoken about the matter with the Tunisian president in a telephone conversation.

Twenty-two people died and 38 were injured in Wednesday's terrorist assault on the Bardo Museum in Tunis. Among the victims are tourists from Italy, Germany, Spain and Poland. (PAP, own information)
