President attends Labour Union Convention

On June 28th, 2000, President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski took part in the National Convention of the Unia Pracy (Labour Union) in Plock. During the convention, Labour Union delegates adopted a resolution on their party`s support for Aleksander Kwasniewski in the presidential elections this year. Addressing the delegates, President Kwasniewski said i.a.: I run in the election with a message addressed to millions of Poles: We can jointly make Poland more equitable, more prosperous, more modern. We can jointly face the challenges of the 21st century (...) Is it so difficult to define in the 21st century what social justice is? It is difficult to usher it in, but I rest convinced that both you, present in this hall, and millions of Poles understand well the still profound, the still meaningful and binding sense of social justice. I do want to collaborate with you, and I do believe that we will find common views in the feat of building a Poland based on the law and justice, a Poland open to the world, a modern and tolerant one. A Poland which provides opportunities to the young generation, a Poland which will count forever more in the present-day world.
