The President of the Republic of Poland holds council with Ambassadors

On 25 October 2006, the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, held council at the Presidential Palace with Polish Ambassadors accredited to the other EU member states as well as to Bulgaria and Romania.

The meeting also involved Foreign Minister Anna Fotyga, Chief of the Presidential Chancellery Aleksander Szczygło as well as other cabinet officials and officials from the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.

During the meeting, the Polish President presented the Polish European policy priorities for 2007 and gave an account of his visit to Hungary to attend the Hungarian Uprising 50th anniversary celebrations and of the Lahti informal summit of EU Heads of State and Government.

Matters discussed in the course of the meeting included the future of the Constitutional Treaty and European Union enlargement. Energy security issues and the European Neighbourhood Policy were also on the agenda.
