A telegram from the Pontiff to the President of the Republic of Poland

On 28 May 2006, at 9:59 p.m., Holy Father Benedict XVI sent a telegram to the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, from the plane aboard which he was returning to the Vatican.

The telegram reads as follows:

Crossing the border of the Republic of Poland, I would like to greet you, Mr. President, the State authorities and all the people of Poland once again with a grateful heart. These were unforgettable days of a meeting with the Homeland and the people of John Paul II, a time of mutual enrichment and confirmation in faith.
I commend the fruits of this pilgrimage to the Good Lord and offer my very best wishes to the people of Poland.
