A Holy Mass in Warsaw’s Piłsudski Square

On 26 May 2006, the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, took part in a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI in Warsaw’s Marshal Piłsudski Square.

During the Eucharist, the President was accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic of Poland and by their daughter Marta. When the Holy Mass was over, His Holiness Benedict XVI came up to the Presidential Couple for a brief conversation. On Saturday, 27 May, President Lech Kaczyński will go to Kraków to take part in the Eucharist to be celebrated by the Pope in Kraków’s Błonia Common the next day. The same day, the Pontiff is scheduled to visit the Auschwitz and Birkenau extermination camps, where he will meet with the President of the Republic of Poland once again.
