The process of reconstruction of Afghanistan is most crucial

On 11 November 2008, President of the Republic of Poland Mr Lech Kaczyński met with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr Hamid Karzai. The President of Afghanistan thanked the Polish President for being invited to attend the commemoration of the 11th November and emphasized that Poland and Afghanistan of which the latter regained its independence 85 years ago have common historical experiences. The President of Afghanistan also conveyed his congratulations to the entire Polish Nation on the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of Poland’s regaining Independence.

At the meeting, the current situation in Afghanistan was discussed. President Hamid Karzai expressed thanks for the military and civilian assistance that Poland has offered his country in recent years. President Lech Kaczyński pledged Poland’s readiness to stay in Afghanistan as long as it is necessary and also to provide development aid. The President of RP underscored that at present it is the process of reconstruction of Afghanistan that is most crucial.

President Hamid Karzai invited the President of RP to come with a visit to Afghanistan. President Lech Kaczyński accepted the invitation and announced that a visit would be paid in 2009.
