President Kaczyński congratulates President Obama

“This year, we are going to celebrate the 90th anniversary of starting diplomatic relations between Poland and the United States of America (…). In 2009, Poland is likewise going to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of communism in our country. We recollect with gratitude the fact that in the 1980s, the United States of America lent support to the independent trade union ‘Solidarity’ in Poland. (…) I would like to extend an invitation to you, Mr President, to pay a visit to Poland. I earnestly hope that I shall be able to host Your Excellency in Poland in the nearest time”, writes President Kaczyński in his letter.

The Polish President also asserts that the Poles hold the American People in high esteem and that the two Peoples share the same ideals of peace, freedom and democracy. “Our participation in stability operations world-wide serves as a means to defend those very values and ideals, and in this regard we continue to be an active ally of the United States of America.” affirms President Kaczyński.

“Poland attaches great importance to the development of friendly relations with the United States of America. We look forward to a close cooperation with the United States of America and to its further growth, especially in those areas which represented a still untapped potential. (…) May I extend to you, Mr President, and to the new Administration under your stewardship my very best wishes for your success in carrying out the responsibilities of the Office and in the completion of initiatives that you are undertaking”, concludes his letter President Kaczyński.
