The President met with the French Prime Minister
After greeting the Prime Minister officially and in the presence of the media (photo-op), Lech Kaczyński invited François Fillon to private talks.
During their meeting, the two politicians discussed matters pertaining to the Lisbon Treaty and the staffing of offices in European institutions. The President of Poland also devoted some time to describe the priority objectives of Polish foreign policy with regard to the European Union and the relations with Ukraine and Russia.
The Polish President and the French Prime Minister have both confirmed that cooperation between Poland and France is important in improving the functioning of the European Union. François Fillon emphasized that, because of the area that Poland occupies, as well as due to its economic significance and history, Poland should play an important role in the European Union.
