Guido Westerwelle pays official state visit to Lech Kaczyński
On Saturday, 31st October, President Lech Kaczyński met with the German Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle. The trip to Poland was the first official visit of the new German Foreign Minister, confirming that Poland remains a significant neighbour and partner for Germany.
Both men assessed bilateral relations between their countries highly and expressed hope of further increasing and intensifying their working together at a bilateral level as well as in a regional and multilateral dimension, in the European Union and NATO. In their discussion they also touched upon issues concerning the results of the last session of the European Council in Brussels and the Treaty of Lisbon becoming effective.
