Piotr Ćwik – Deputy Chief of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland

Born on 17 August 1968 in Kraków. Master of Philosophy – a graduate of the University of Philosophy and Education (currently: Ignatianum University in Kraków). He also completed postgraduate studies in European consulting and a qualification course in management in the area of education.

 

Mr Ćwik developed a strong bond with the sphere of education a number of years ago, first as a teacher and an educator, then as a school director. He worked at Primary School No. 1 in Skawina and in 2000-2014 served as director at the John Paul II Catholic School Complex in Skawina.

 

Mr Ćwik is a local-government and social activist involved in many local initiatives. He served as Councillor of the Skawina City Council in three consecutive terms -  from 1994 to 2006, and then, until 2014 he performed the function of the Councillor in the Kraków County Council. He sat on various thematic committees, serving also as their chairman. At that time he was, among others, editor-in-chief of the local press, co-founder of the Christian Cultural Center at the Divine Mercy Parish in Skawina, and an active member of the Catholic Action.

 

In June 2014 he was elected to the Polish Parliament replacing  the currently serving  President of the Republic of Poland, who became an MEP. He worked, among others, in the committees for education, science and youth, social policy and family, as well as in the local government and regional policy committees. Having concluded his term of office, on 16 December 2015, he was appointed Vice-voivode of the Małopolska Region whereas on 2 June 2017 he assumed the function of the Voivode of Małopolska, which he held  until 7 August 2020.

 

Since 8 October 2020 he has served as Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. Since 4 January 2021, as Deputy Chief of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. 

 

Mr Ćwik was awarded, among others, the Order of Saint Sebastian - the Dynastic Order of the Kingdom of Portugal.

 

He is married and has two sons.
