Szymon Gutkowski

Szymon Gutkowski began his career as an assistant to Jacek Kuroń in 1991.


One of the first marketing strategists in Poland, he embarked on his career path in 1991. A juror at numerous editions of the EFFIE marketing effectiveness competition. He has worked as a consultant to several dozen Polish and international companies, both at home and abroad. He is a co-creator of several Polish brands.


Together with his team, he has carried out major public communication projects commissioned by the successive Polish cabinets: the Mass Privatisation Programme, Jerzy Buzek’s Four Social Reforms Package and the Social Insurance Reform.


Szymon Gutkowski is actively involved in voluntary and NGO work. He is a Batory Foundation Board Member and President of the Projekt: Polska Association. He was one of the creators of the campaign preceding the European Referendum (YES in the Referendum Initiative) and of the Together ’89 initiative to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of communism in Poland. He was actively involved in the work of the ‘Change the Country. Vote’ and ‘You Have a Vote, You Have a Choice’ coalitions.


He took a degree in Theoretical Mathematics at the University of Warsaw and won an Executive MBA awarded by the University of Warsaw International Business Programme and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

On 27 June 2011, Szymon Gutkowski was appointed a Voluntary Advisor to the President.
