President sends condolences to Barack Obama

President Bronisław Komorowski

President Bronisław Komorowski on Tuesday sent condolences to US President Barack Obama in connection with the tornado that hit the outskirts of Oklahoma City.


President Komorowski conveyed his deepest sympathy to the relatives and close ones of the victims and the missing. "I received the news about the tragic outcome of the tornado that hit Oklahoma City with great sorrow," B. Komorowski wrote in a condolence cable.


On behalf of the Polish nation and my own I convey the deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the victims. I wish the injured a quick recovery, the president wrote.


A violent tornado tore through Moore, Oklaholma City on Monday, killing at least 24 people and wreaking miles of devastation. The three-km wide tornado trapped victims beneath the rubble. One elementary school took a direct hit and another was destroyed. (PAP)
