First Lady offers medical equipment to Bethlehem hospital
First Lady Anna Komorowska, who accompanied Poland's president on an official visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority, on Tuesday granted medical equipment to the Shepherd's Field hospital in Bethlehem.
The equipment, worth EUR 13 thousand, was financed by assistance funds of the Polish Foreign Ministry, the first lady stressed.
The hospital serves a region inhabited by some 200 thousand people, including three refugee camps. It is financed by member fees and charity donations.
Anna Komorowska stressed that in places such as Bethlehem the needs are numerous and the difficulties are huge. "Aid is indispensible," she stressed.
Komorowska also visited the Home of Peace orphanage run by Polish nuns, the Max Rayne School, where pupils, principals and teachers are from Jewish and Arab communities, and Jerusalem's Mea Shearim neighbourhood. (PAP)
