President talks with Viktor Yanukovych
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski in a Wednesday telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych appealed for an immediate stop to the use of force and a return to negotiations with the opposition.
"President Komorowski appealed to the Ukrainian president for an immediate stop to the use of force and a return to negotiations with the opposition on a political solution to the crisis in Ukraine, without any preliminary conditions", Presidential Minister Jaromir Sokolowski told PAP.
He added that "during the conversation President Yanukovych outlined a scenario for a political solution to the crisis".
Komorowski had unsuccessfully tried to contact Yanukovych by phone on Tuesday. He had wanted "first and foremost to warn (Yanukovych) against actions that would lead to further escalation of the conflict", the Polish president told PAP at the time. "Violence and the use of force is unacceptable", he had emphasised. (PAP)
