Poland has managed to make good use of its EU membership by combining EU money with Polish work, effort, creativity and enthusiasm, President Bronislaw Komorowski said on Friday, marking the 11th anniversary of Poland's EU accession.
"Today we can enjoy the good fruits of wise decisions taken many years ago. We can also be pleased with the decision (made) 11 years ago which meant European Union membership," President Komorowski said.
Poland's next years in the EU will be determined by its ability to make proper use of PLN 400 billion in European funds that has been earmarked for the country under the 2014-2020 EU budget, according to the president.
The president wished Poles "satisfaction from the 11 years of EU membership, from Polish wise work and good prospects for Poland."
Earlier on Friday Komorowski met with ambassadors representing EU member and associated states.
Poland joined the EU on May 1, 2004 together with 7 other Central and Eastern European countries plus Cyprus and Malta. (PAP)
